Often they make statements like "I really do not know what God wants me to do.          We first must determine what the person means by their statement they are seeking God's will. Are they seeking to know?          There is really no mystery to the matter and the answer to all these questions is actually quite simple. Let us look at this matter of finding God's will for our lives in two categories:          God's present will for me and God's future will for me. I. God's Present Will for My Life.          First let us deal with a false expectation that is often associated with seeking God's will. This expectation is that we want God somehow to reveal the future to us. Often that is really what people want to know the future. I suppose we think if we knew the future we would know what direction to go and what to be doing now to prepare for it.          That is putting the cart before the horse. Certainly we can have goals and work toward them, but in finding God's will for our lives God normally does not work this way.          The biblical principle is that we live in the present trusting in the Lord, daily living our lives for Him, and He will direct us and guide us towards what He wants us to do in the future. In other words, we live by faith, trusting in the Lord today, and by this process God will prepare us for future service and get us to where He wants us. Therefore God's will involves if we are living today for the Lord the future will take care of itself. A. Romans 12:1 begins with a simple but profound statement. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. " B. Note there are three specific statements which will accomplish "proving, that good, acceptable and perfect will of God. 1. Present your bodies a living sacrifice. V1 2. By not conformed to this world. V2 3. By transformed by the renewing of your mind. V2 C. Present your bodies a living sacrifice that is holy acceptable unto God. 1. A sacrifice is an offering, it is something given in an act of worship and dedication to God. It is something that we act of worship and thanksgiving on our part to God. It is something that is totally and absolute given which nothing held back. It implies, that he who offers the offering presents it entirely, releases all claim or right to it, and leaves it to be disposed of for the honour of God. In the case of an animal, it was slain giving its very life. The use of the word here means that Christians are to give our very lives to Christ. without reservation. As Ephesians 5:18 instructs us we are to be always "filled with the Spirit. We give up control of our lives or any claim to ourselves, putting ourselves in the hands of God to be used as He desires. 2. We are only able to do this by the "mercies of God. Although we by faith acting on God's instructions give ourselves to Him, we cannot be successful if it is done in the flesh. It is the mercy of God that He enables us to live for Him. As Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:1 "Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.            Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:7 mentions that he asked God three times to take from him what he calls a "thorn in the flesh. God's answer was. My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness" 2 Cor. 12:9.            God tell us in 1 Thessalonians 5:24 " Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. We are to make ourselves available to the Lord and He then directs and uses us. Whatever God's will is for will accomplish His will for our lives if we allow Him too. We do not need to know the future because it is in His hands. If we live today faithfully serving the Lord, God will take care of the future and of course are present also. It is a matter of living by faith. We trust the Lord and that means believing what He has said. So He promises to guide and direct our erefore we by faith accept that is what He is doing. It has been well said that God never asks to do anything that He does not provide the means for us to do it. God gives us the abilities and means to accomplish He will. 1 Corinthians 12 explains that God gives spiritual gifts to all believers to equip us to serve Him in the capacity that He desire.           Some people are given the ability to teach, but others are not. If a person has the ability to teach and that was God's will He would provide the opportunity to use the gift. ILLUS: Soon after I was saved I was asked to be the assistant Sunday School teacher for the Teenage Class in our church. I was sacred to death, but I began to study and watch the regular teacher and learned. When the teacher was unable to be in the class I was asked to teach. In spite of my stage fright and being nervous, the lesson went well. I was encouraged. In a short time the regular teach had to quit, so I took the class full time. A year later the popular Sunday School teach of the young adult class resigned his class. I was actually the second choice for teaching the class, but because there was no one else available I was given the class. I studied and prayed and God blessed the class they asked to year after year to continue. God provided the ability and the opportunity. In a few years God called me to preach giving me a greater responsibility and opportunity to serve Him. His will for my life was revealed over those years and if you had asked me if God wanted me to be a pastor and then a missionary church planter. I would had soundly said no! Yet, that is what God wanted and He got me where He wanted me to go.            Old Testament animal sacrifices were offered to the Lord and given to the worship of God in the Temple. Further the sacrificed animals were the food which sustained the priests and allowed the work of God to continue. Thus, the sacrifice was vital to the ministry of the worship of God and in the same way, those who sacrifice themselves to the Lord, are His witnesses and He uses them to carry out His purposes. God work requires sacrifice on our part.            It was Christ's sacrifice and suffering for sin that made our salvation possible. Matthew 16:24 records Jesus' words to those who wanted to be His disciples, Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. To serve the Lord, which is what being a disciple means, involves sacrifice on our parts. putting ourselves on the altar of God's will and letting Him use us as He purposes. It says this is to be a "living" sacrifice. It means the Christians is to devote his life vigorously and actively to the Lord. In the Old Testament the when the Jew offered his sacrifice, he slew it, and presented it dead. This is what happens when a person puts their faith in Jesus Christ and is born again. The Old Testament sacrifice could not be presented again. The believer however, gives his body sacrificially to the Lord. In opposition to this, we are to present ourselves a living to be used in God's service. It means we are to be a continuing sacrifice which God can use daily over and over. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:31 that he died daily meaning he died to self in order to live daily for the Lord.            Further we are to "die to self" in which we become dead to sin. Romans 6:1-2. 11 explains, What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him"            Romans 6:13 says, Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. " 3. The word "holy" means "dedicated wholly to God's purposes without blemish or defect. The Old Testament Temple and its furnishings were never used for anything else but the worship of the Lord. These things used in God's service were to be carefully kept clean and pure always and never allowed to be polluted or contaminated. They were never used for anything else. The Christian is to sacrifice himself (body) to be "holy" which means dedicated only to the service of the Lord and nothing else. We are not to yield ourselves to worldliness as verse 2 states, but be wholly given to the Lord's service. We are not to allow any corruption to enter and if it does we are to a 1 John 1:9 nfess it immediately to the Lord and let Him "cleanse us from all unrighteousness. " ILLUS: We often hear of the "conversion" of some Hollywood movie star. A number of them claim they are Christians, and "born again. Sadly they continue in the same way as they did before, making "R" rated movies, which show sinful acts. Mel Gibson who produced the movie the "The Passion of Christ" is an example of a man who claims to serve the Lord, but makes sinful movies. His movie the "The Passion of Christ" was wholly unbiblical. It was based on visions of Catholic nuns in centuries past. It appealed to many it was not unsurprising to me that so many who claimed it helped them, remained in the same old sinful life style as before. Several people got mad with me because I spoke out against it and tried to show people it was not based on the biblical account. Yet, they did not like it and criticized me. You see dear are to be separated from the world. We do not need the movie of a sinful Hollywood actor to teach us about Christ's sufferings. We have God's word the Bible and in it we will find truth and strength to live for the Lord. 3. This bodily sacrifice is to be one that is "acceptable" to God. We cannot offer a polluted or tainted sacrifice to Him. God tells us plainly how we are to worship Him in "Spirit and in truth" as John 4:24 says. The vain traditions of men, religious acts, and ceremonies such as performed by the Catholics and of pagan religions are not pleasing to God and thus are unacceptable to Him. Bowing before statues, crossing ourselves, chanting ritualistic prayers, wearing robes, etc do not impress God and are not to be done in worship nor allowed to be practices in our lives. We do not lift up church rituals and ceremonies to honor the offer to Him godly lives, lived as a testimony to the truth of God's word and His life changing power. 4. It says this absolute and complete giving of ourselves to the Lord is just "our reasonable service. This means it is not something unusual or some extra ordinary act, but that giving ourselves wholly and completely to the Lord is the normal way a believer is to live his life.            Our offering of ourselves to the Lord should not be constrained or forced on us by any means. It should be totally given out of conviction that it is what God wants and in faith we believe God and know it is the best for us. We are to hold back nothing giving ourselves completely. D. It is the character of God to take our offering of ourselves wholly to Him and to use us in His service and thereby accomplish His will for our lives. God cannot direct us if we are not living our lives as He directs us. He cannot use us if we are not holy vessels dedicated to His service. 1. Therefore to accomplish God's will for our lives we must allow Him to direct us. As Ephesians 5:18 says. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit" 2. The Holy Spirit will lead us daily to accomplish what God wills for our lives. 3. If we do not live for the Lord today and accomplish His will for today. certainly we will not accomplish God's will for tomorrow. 4. This is an important point: We do not need to know a great deal about the future God has for us. Certainly we would like to know what God wants for us in the future, but what is important is to know what He wants today! If God directs today, and tomorrow and the next into the will get us to where He wants us to be and will use us as He desires.

It is based on the first arc of the manga series of the same name by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Akeji Fujimura. The film was released in the United States by Funimation. [3] Plot [ edit] High school student Shun Takahata spends much of his time playing violent video games. One morning at school, he whines that his life is completely boring but then he suddenly finds himself forced to participate in a game of Daruma-san ga koronda with death as the penalty for losing. When the Daruma doll turns toward the blackboard, it exposes a button on its back that the students can attempt to press to end the game, but if the doll spins back around and sees anyone moving then those students' heads will explode. Everyone in the class except Shun dies in this first game. After the game, Shun finds his childhood friend Ichika Akimoto and they make their way to the school gym. There they play a Maneki Neko, where students dressed as mice attempt to throw a ball into a hoop attached to the collar of a giant cat doll, while trying not to be eaten or crushed. The game was won with the aid of Takeru Amaya, a troubled classmate who seems to revel in the opportunity to see so many deaths, and who kills all the other survivors except Shun and Ichika after winning the game. The three of them are then put out of consciousness by the sleeping gas released by the giant cat doll. They wake up to find themselves with other students in a room inside a giant cube hovering Tokyo, facing the next test: students all over Japan and elsewhere in the world face similar tests, and the handful of survivor are being brought inside other cubes. The next game is Kokeshi, where the students have to be blindfolded and guess which of four floating Kokeshi wooden dolls is behind them within 10 seconds after the end of a short song. If they fail to do so, they will be hit with a red laser and the dolls will use telekinesis to destroy their bodies. If the Kokeshi lose, they will explode and one of them releases an answer key which opens the doors and frees the students to the next level. Shun meets and saves Shoko Takase by winning the game, and they reunite with Ichika and Yukio Sanada, whom they save from being killed by a fifth Kokeshi by holding their hands. The four join Eiji Oku and Kotaro Maeda to the next level, where they have to use their keys to unlock a giant smiling head. Amaya brings in three more keys and kills a prisoner that he brought into the room. The seven survivors use their keys, and the giant head rolls away to dig a tunnel into the next room. Meanwhile, each player is displayed on television screens for the others to see. The next game is Shirokuma, a white polar bear that appears to them inside a frozen room. The students have to all answer the white bear's questions honestly, otherwise they will be forced to single out the one that they suspect to be lying to be killed. Shoko and Yukio get killed, and Shun soon realizes that the bear is the true liar and that it's real color is black, therefore winning the game and surviving with the other four students. The final game, presented by a Matryoshka doll, is a game of kick the can that must be completed before sundown. The remaining five each pick a stick, and who gets the red one plays the "Devil. Whoever gets the face shown or seen by the Devil, is caught and thrown into a cell. Kicking the can in the middle will make it explode, killing nearby players. Takeru got the red stick and soon three students are caught while Shun finds an armor to conceal his face. Shun falls into the sea while chaining Takeru to the armor: as Takeru fights to pull the armor up to avoid being pulled down, Shun climbs back up, having freed himself from the armor. Both race towards the can, and Shun succeeds in kicking the can first, thereby winning the game. The Matryoshka doll reveals that in fact the explosion is a lie and that none of them will be killed by losing the game. They have an popsicle party, where they learn their fates on the wooden stick, and that the intention of the last game were simply for entertainment. Shun and Takeru live while Ichika, Eiji, and Kotaro are killed by a Matryoshka doll with lasers that disintegrated them. Shun and Takeru emerge to the top of the cube, where they see crowds cheer for them, while a hikikomori, who have been watching them from his room, goes out of his house, possibly to find the real identity of "God. Takeru celebrates while Shun kneels in despair from all of his losses, stating that "there is no God. One of the Matryoshka dolls corrects him and suggests that those deadly games were to lead them to "God" as it shows him a vagrant who was also an observer of those games. Step 3 of 12 Steps – “Made a decision to turn our lives and our will over to the care of God. ” As I explained in the message the past weekend, this is both a one-time decision and an ongoing daily decision. Its living out what Paul meant by, “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. ” Galatians 2:20   If you didnt hear it, listen to it. This blog supplements how to take Step 3. Step 3 is far more radical than most Christians I know ever experience.  I went for years as a “professional Christian” without experiencing the wonderfully radical life of daily, moment-by-moment surrender. This is tragic, because Im convinced its the only way that “Gods Kingdom comes to earth, as in heaven, ” like Jesus taught us to pray. I find addicts have an advantage over “good religious people, ” because the addiction forces a radical daily surrender, whereas “good religious people” can remain partially submitted to God (which really means not submitted to God) for years.  Recall, it was not the addicts who crucified Jesus, but the “good religious people! ” Theres a prayer called the serenity prayer that I want to walk you through as a way to live Step 3. Its become well known in recovery circles, but it comes from a 1940s pastor, and its excellent practical theology of what surrender is all about according to the Scriptures. Let Go of Playing God “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time. ” You know most of the things I try to control, or make happen, that then stress me out–are none of my business. Most of the things that get my panties in a wad come from me falling into the trap of wanting to be God rather than finite, fallen, forgiven John.  A few things are my responsibility, but the rest is Gods. In the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6) Jesus is talking about Gods responsibility versus ours. Go read it–he says what God really wants is a kind of personal intimacy and honesty thats not about show, or proving to others that were good. We dont have to worry about all these things that really are Gods business (the past, the future. Today is the only time we finite humans can actually affect—so let tomorrow worry about itself, says Jesus. As a finite human, I can only live this moment, then the next, then the next. In fact, thats all I have to do! Thats not to say I dont have responsibilities that God gives me, therere some things that I need to take responsibility for (like seeking His Kingdom will right now. My responsibility is over those things I can do something about right now, the rest I have to trust into Gods care. And this doesnt mean I dont plan for the future, so that I can make wise choices right now. What it means to “surrender playing God” is to live faithfully each day and each moment, taking care of my responsibility in line with Gods kingdom ways today.  Let God be God of tomorrow. Seek Gods Will Only “ Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will. ” Our job is simple: “Seek His will and ways first” (Matthew 6:33. Sometimes life is hard, people sin against God and me, we hurt each other, need to give and receive forgiveness, and sometimes must endure hardship. Often its an unwillingness to accept the hardships of life that cause us to take moral or ethical shortcuts against Gods will. When things dont go our way, we kick and scream and run away, and then do stupid self-destructive things to feel better. But its a trap that keeps us stuck. Jesus submitted himself to Gods will, suffered hardship, but overcame.  The promise is that we too will overcome as we seek His Kingdom, His will be done, moment by moment. “God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. ” Romans 8:28  Which doesnt mean we will never suffer, it doesnt mean stupid people wont light themselves on fire and burn us—it means that even though you and I cant control any of that—what we can do is pray each morning, each moment of temptation, each point of decision, “God, not my will, but your will—show me the next right thing to do, and Ill do it. ”  And thats the very best we can do!  Do that, and even the most tragic Ashes of hardship can grow the most beautiful Garden of life, now and eternally. Letting Go of Unreasonable Expectations “That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen. ” –Reinhold Niebuhr The key phrase here is “reasonably happy in this life. ” One symptom of the disease of playing God is expecting this life to be heaven–its not heaven and was never meant to be. Our desires are not bad—most all of them are good at the root. God gave us those desires, but we often aim them at the wrong target.  When we aim our desires at seeking Gods Kingdom first (because He is the Source of all we desire) we find increasing happiness. But ultimately, this life is not our home.  We will never be supremely happy until we are together with Him forever—until then, live today like theres no tomorrow.

QUESTION: Will God's will be obvious or hidden? ANSWER: When people talk about God's will, they are often referring to a variety of different things. The disciples once asked Christ: What must we do to do the works God requires. In response, Jesus said, The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent" John 6:28-29. Sometimes, God makes His will very obvious. It is clearly God's will that we need to work at loving and serving others, becoming more like Christ, telling others about God, and valuing the things that God values. Jesus said in Mark 3:35, Whoever does God's will is my brother and sister and mother. In John 7:17, Jesus reiterated: If anyone chooses to do God's will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 and 5:16-18 give specific examples of behavior that are God's will and fall into this basic definition of God's obvious will. "It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God…Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. We all know that sometimes God's will isn't always as clear. In these instances, God commands us to seek His wisdom regarding the direction He would have us to go. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. When we seek the Lord, the Holy Spirit will guide us and show us God's will for us. Romans 12:2 says, Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will. Is it really possible, to know the will of God in more specific situations? Who should I marry? Which occupation should I pursue? Which college should I choose? The Bible gives very clear guidelines regarding core values and guidelines for life. For example, God gives this guideline for marriage: 2 Corinthians 6:14 says, Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness. Seeking God's will for specific situations and decisions may require practicing spiritual disciplines like daily prayer and meditation, fasting, worship, and dedicated Bible study. This is not always easy or clear because God reveals Himself in many different ways using His Word, other people or circumstances and sometimes an inner prompting or voice for direction. It takes practice and some discernment to hear God's voice. Sometimes our own timetable, will, worries, and the lack of intimacy in our relationship with God can stand in the way of hearing from Him. When we seek God's direction for specific answers to particular situations, we need to ask ourselves if we are surrendered to God's will and if the answer lines up with His Word or if it seems more in line with our own desires. God desires that we know His will and plan for our lives. As we earnestly seek Him, we find truth in Ephesians 1:9: And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ...

Free download god is not dead. God's will. You've heard about it. But how do you know what God's will actually is? So youve decided to follow Christ. Awesome! But soon—perhaps very soon—after making that choice, youre likely to be confronted with a host of others: Is my job the right one for me? Should I join this church or that one? Should I marry? Whom should I marry?  When? What decision will most please God? Theologian J. I. Packer said, “No other concern commands more interest or arouses more anxiety [among evangelicals] nowadays than discovering the will of God. ” 1 Hes right. Those who follow Christ are anxious to please him—in both the big and small choices we make in our everyday lives. We want to “get it right” and be confident that were doing what God wants us to do. Know God The first step in knowing Gods will is simply to know God. Imagine youve come into a marriage truly blind: you know nothing about your spouse, other than the fact that he or she is the one your family has chosen for you. How could you possibly know what your new mate prefers in any matter? Do they take their coffee black or with cream and sugar? You dont know. You cant know, because you dont know this person at all. Of course, in time you will become aware of these things, but only as you get to know your spouse. In the same way, you come to know the basics of Gods will for you by getting to know God himself. Read his Word—the Bible —to learn about his nature and character. Discover what he says about what pleases him and what does not. “Gods regular way of showing us what he calls us to is by appropriate application of the once-for-all revealed truths of the Bible. ” 2 But as you learn about God, remember this: your relationship with him is based upon his performance, not yours. No choice you could make, no decision you could arrive at, will cause him to love you more—or less—than he already does. A Cosmic Scavenger Hunt? A view frequently put forward is that discerning Gods will is like going on a cosmic scavenger hunt. We imagine that God has one single, perfect plan for our lives (which is, of course, hidden) that we must discover, recognize, and then follow to a tee. Author Bruce Waltke calls this view “a version of the old con mans ruse, the three-shell game. ” 3 Which shell is Gods will hidden under? What if I lose track of all the moving parts? How can I be sure of what and where his will is? This view implies that in every matter, God has a specific, hidden Plan A.  Failure to discover it results in a life-long sentence to Plan B. But nothing could be further from the truth. Years ago, a man very learned in the Jewish Law asked Jesus an important question about “doing the right thing” in order to please God. He asked, “‘Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law? Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. ” 4 In other words, God is pleased when we love him with our whole heart and love others as we do ourselves. This much is his will for every believer—and it is certainly not hidden from us. Jesus  put it out there for the entire world to see. Its Not About You As pastor Rick Warren famously said in his book The Purpose Driven Life, “Its not about you. ” 5 Gods will is about, well, God. As you seek his will, endeavor to see beyond your immediate questions or desires and focus on bringing glory to God through your life. God has a plan for his kingdom. As a believer, you are a part of the kingdom—but youre not the only part. He is pleased and satisfied with you based on Christs sacrifice, not your performance. In fact, many of the small decisions you agonize over could work out for your good and Gods glory in a number of different ways. His primary desire is that you love him—and others—well. Obey What You Know, Trust, and Go “We cannot predict or control what hasnt happened yet, nor can we change the past, but God is sovereign over both, ” writes Gerald Sittser. He suggests that instead of asking God whether you should be a teacher or an accountant, “a better question might be ‘God, what do you require of me now, today? What would please you and bring you honor in this immediate circumstance? Somehow, these decisions seem less paralyzing, and easier to discern. ” 6 Rather than becoming stuck and self-focused with each individual decision, it would be wiser to consider Gods Word carefully, ask the advice of mature believers, consider the doors that God may be opening or closing on opportunities, then simply obey what you are able to discern in faith. God is wise, powerful, and good. He is able to cause all things to work together “for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. ” 7 Once youve thoughtfully and prayerfully considered your options, simply obey what you know, trust in God, and move forward. Be Flexible Finally, as you consider the will of God, be flexible. A yes to one situation does not necessarily mean yes forever, nor does it mean that a similar question wont come up again in different conditions. Circumstances may change, but God does not. 8 He is always faithful to his covenant children. “This week, ” writes Pastor Gregg Matte, “a relational intersection could change the course of your life. A conversation on bended knee could be the tipping point of your prayer life. By the same token, an unexpected phone call could bring you to your knees in grief. Life isnt always easy. Its course can change in seconds, even as we try to plan out the years. ” 9 True North A hiker knows that, no matter the destination, he needs to be able to orient himself to true north. If he can keep this constant before him, he can find his way. True north for the believer seeking Gods will is the answer to these questions: Will God be glorified in this choice? Does it demonstrate my love for him and for others? If you can answer yes, your decision is in harmony with God, and you can be confident as you move in faith.

But it could also mean 'This had reached its proper perfection. This had become what it had in it to be. Therefore of course it would not be prolonged. As if God said, Good; you have mastered that exercise. I am very pleased with it. And now you are ready to go on to the next. ” C. S. It is better to be a good street sweeper than a bad writer, better to be a good bartender than a bad doctor, and the repentant thief who died with Jesus on Calvary was far more perfect than the holy ones who had Him nailed to the cross. And yet, abstractly speaking, what is more holy than the priesthood and less holy than the state of a criminal? The dying thief had, perhaps, disobeyed the will of God in many things: but in the most important event of his life he listened and obeyed. The Pharisees had kept the law to the letter and had spent their lives in the pursuit of a most scrupulous perfection. But they were so intent upon perfection as an abstraction that when God manifested His will and His perfection in a concrete and definite way they had no choice but to reject it. ” “Your current circumstances are part of your redemption story He is writing. ” Evinda Lepins “In feature films the director is God; in documentary films God is the director. ” Alfred Hitchcock “When God is ready for you to move, He will make your situation uncomfortable. ” Germany Kent tags: be-encouraged, believe, believers-in-god, change, change-is-coming, change-is-constant, change-is-good, change-is-possible, change-quotes, change-your-life, changes, dont-give-up, dont-give-up-quotes, dont-quit, encourage-yourself, encouragement-and-attitude, encouragement-quotes, encouragements, god, god-quotes, god-s-messages, god-s-will, gods-grace, gods-plan, have-a-little-faith, have-faith, have-faith-in-god, have-faith-in-your-future, have-faith-in-your-self, have-faith-in-yourself, hold-on, hold-onto-god, peace-of-mind, peace-of-mind-quotes, stay-focused, stay-strong, stay-strong-and-positive, staying-positive, truth, truth-of-life, wait-on-god “My dreams had to be His dreams, the ones He placed in my heart. The impulse of creation forwards it; the strength of powers, seen and unseen, has its fulfillment in charge. Proof of a life to come must be given. Sufferer, faint not through terror of this burning evidence. Tired wayfarer, gird up thy loins, look upward, march onward. Pilgrims and brother mourners, join in friendly company. Dark through the wilderness of this world stretches the way for most of us: equal and steady be our tread; be our cross our banner. Let us so run that we may obtain: let us endure hardness as good soldiers; let us finish our course, and keep the faith, reliant in the issue to come off more than conquerors: Art though not from everlasting mine Holy One? You can't say the will of God is to disrespect His creations, and you can't say the will of God is to disrespect the planet that you live on. You can say you're anything [any religion] but if your disrespect comes in any of those three categories, you're not anything, you're whack. I think the principles of religion start from there. Then you get into man's interpretation and bookology. ” Chuck D, Lyrics of a Rap Revolutionary, Vol. 1.

First, the Bible speaks of God's sovereign, or supreme, will. Ephesians 1:11 teaches God is the One "who works all things according to the counsel of His will. Job 42:2 affirms, I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. Romans 8:28 states that God's will works for the good of believers: We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. " Second, the Bible also speaks of people doing God's will. For example, God "desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth" 1 Timothy 2:4. John 3:16 teaches, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. The Lord wills or desires people to come to salvation as well as to obey His commands. For example, Jesus left the earth with the challenge to His followers to "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" Matthew 28:19-20. Third, the Bible speaks of God's will for our individual lives. Some of these desires are universal, such as 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. In other areas, God has a unique plan for groups of people as well as for our individual lives. For example, God spoke to the people of Israel as a group on one occasion, saying, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope" Jeremiah 29:11. To the apostle Paul, God once gave a dream to travel to a particular area to share the Gospel: And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him and saying, Come over to Macedonia and help us. And when Paul had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them" Acts 16:9-10. In summary, God's will can refer to His perfect plan known since the beginning of time, God's teachings for all people, God's specific desires for a community of people, or God's unique plan for our individual lives. God knows all that will take place, has commanded us to follow certain teachings, and leads and guides both individuals and communities of believers toward certain actions that bring glory to His name. Free download god is not dead 3. T here have been many books written to help people understand what the will of God is for their life. Gods will, in the Bible applies to all believers whereas Gods plan for your life may differ from someone elses plan. A pastor once told us that it is simple to understand Gods will for your life. All you have to do is answer 3 simple questions: 1) Is it Scriptural? 2) Is it the desire of your heart. and (3) Is there a need? If the answer “No” to any of these questions, then it is not Gods will or plan for you. Here are 20 Bible verses about Gods will that you may use as a guide: 1 Timothy 2:1-4  First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Gods Will for All Believers John 7:17 If  anyones will is to do Gods will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-19 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Doing Gods Will Out of Trust and Obedience Mark 3:34- 35 And looking about at those who sat around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother. ” Romans 8:27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 2 Corinthians 8:1-6 We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints —and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us. Accordingly, we urged Titus that as he had started, so he should complete among you this act of grace. Ephesians 6:5-7 Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man 1 Thessalonians 4:2-4 For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor 1 Peter 2:13-16 Be subject for the Lords sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. 1 Peter 3:17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be Gods will, than for doing evil. 1 Peter 4:19 Therefore let those who suffer according to Gods will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good. 1 John 2:16-17 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.  And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. Examples of Gods Will as a Plan (A Call) Romans 1:9-11 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I mention you always in my prayers, asking that somehow by Gods will I may now at last succeed in coming to you.  For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you Romans 8:28-29 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. Romans 15:30-33 I appeal to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf, that I may be delivered from the unbelievers in Judea, and that my service for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints, so that by Gods will I may come to you with joy and be refreshed in your company. May the God of peace be with you all. Amen. 1 Corinthians 1:1-3 Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and our brother Sosthenes, To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. One of the hardest sentences in my life has been… “Lord, not my will but Yours be done. ” In fact, Ive had more than a few times when Ive gone into and through circumstances both kicking and screaming! Surrender is a word that used to terrify me. Im guessing Im not alone. Its not easy to give up and give in to the Sovereign God of the Universe because doing so requires… Trusting that God is who He says He is. Believing He is able to do what He says He will do. Living in peace knowing His love is greater than any circumstances. Ill admit its easier to surrender to Gods will when life is easy and Hes working in ways that please me. Its harder when I cant understand my current situation and the road ahead looks hard. Maybe like me, you want to do better and face each day in obedience without fighting to get your own way. If so, I believe this will help you like its helping me. 5 Things You Can Do that will Help You Surrender to Gods Will 1. Trust Gods Love Its hard for me to follow someone who doesnt want whats best for me and since the Garden of Eden, Satan has used whatever he can to get people to doubt Gods love. Have you ever heard a child say “you dont love me” to a parents “no? ” Yet the job of a loving parent isnt to make their children happy, its to do what is best to help them grow and mature. Im learning that as my loving Heavenly Father, God is at work in my life helping me grow and mature in faith and love. And… God showed how much He loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through is real love—not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.  1 John 4:9–10 That is HUGE love! 2. Let Go of Worry and Surrender in Faith If worry was an Olympic sport, Id have a trophy case of medals. The list of things Ive worried about is too long for this space. Id memorized the verse “dont worry about tomorrow” as a child — but applying it seemed beyond my anxiety overwhelm. But Im not doing tomorrow right now. I living today! It took several major crises before I finally learned that I just needed God to help me through this moment and trust Him to give me what I need in the next. Thats living through faith… Believing God will meet each need one moment at a time! Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?   And if worry cant accomplish a little thing like that, whats the use of worrying over bigger things? Luke 12:25–26 3. Let Go of the Past and Surrender to Gods Healing Grace Dwelling on the past is as much of a problem as worrying about the future. In Christ Jesus, God has completely forgiven the past. Im learning to trust Him and lean into His gracea and mercy. Part of my surrendering means going to God in prayer asking Him to forgive my past and give me all I need to forgive those who hurt me. When you and I focus on regret and revenge we cannot surrender. Those two things will always rob us of Gods peace and joy. “Forget the former things;      do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!      Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness      and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:18–19 4. Let Go of Impatience and Surrender to Gods Timing Im not good at waiting … lines, doctors offices, etc. I have a schedule to follow. You too? But the truth is, there is no peace when Im tapping my foot and staring at my watch. So, Im giving my impatience to God, asking Him to help me trust His timing and while I wait, Im also asking Him to give me His peace and strength. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.  They will soar high on wings like eagles.  They will run and not grow weary.  They will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 5. Let Go of Disobedience and Surrender to Gods Commands Im too often a creature of habits and not all of them are good. Its easy to make light of my sins, after all theyre not THAT bad. But sins are a big deal. They rob me of peace, cause me unpleasant consequences, and fail to glorify God. Im asking God to help me believe His ways are best me a heart for obedience … not to earn His favor but to glorify Him and testify to His love. Lord, we show our trust in You by obeying Your laws;   our hearts desire is to glorify Your name. Isaiah 26:8 I still have so much to learn to completely surrender to Gods will. I like to have control over what happens in my life. I want what I want and I want it now. But experience has taught me that fighting Gods plans will never offer me lasting happiness or peace. It has never happened in the past and I doubt it will in the future. I believe God wants to help us trust His perfect love and surrender to His will. We have all sinned and deserve Gods judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring. Jesus is Lord. you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven. What is your response? Yes, I want to follow Jesus I am a follower of Jesus I still have questions.

The Bible says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6. How do we discover Gods will for our lives? The first step is to want to do His will! All too often we dont really seek Gods will; we do whatever we think is best, without ever consulting God. We may decide, for example, to do something exciting or challenging, and we automatically assume it must be Gods will—although it isnt. Or well decide to do something and then ask God to bless our plans—although they arent His. The second step is to seek His will. How do we do this? One way is through prayer, asking Him to guide us as we make decisions. In addition, God guides us through His Word, the Bible. For many years I read through the book of Proverbs every month—one chapter a day. Its practical wisdom has helped me more times than I can remember—as has the rest of the Bible. God also may guide us through circumstances, or the wise advice of others. Dont be discouraged by your experience. Instead, make sure of your commitment to Jesus Christ, and then ask God to guide you in the ways He wants you to go. Have you committed your life to Christ? Learn more.
